The Challenge

Adventure filmmaking has historically showcased a narrow demographic—lean, white male athletes—creating both industry stagnation and audience alienation. Our strategic research identified this representation gap as an opportunity: audiences desperately wanted to see themselves in adventure spaces but couldn't find content that reflected their experiences. The challenge was twofold: create a distinct visual identity that signaled inclusivity while developing a strategic positioning that would authentically connect with underrepresented audiences and differentiate Girl Wonder Films in a crowded market.

The Solution

My solution integrated strategic positioning with authentic visual storytelling for Girl Wonder Films. I developed a comprehensive brand strategy roadmap that identified the Explorer and Creator archetypes as foundational to their identity. Then I created a distinctive visual system featuring sunrise-inspired colors, accessible typography, and diverse imagery that directly challenges industry norms. My brand identity embodies their mission of "Films for the Underrepresented" while giving them a professional framework to position adventure content that transforms aspirational "I want to" thinking into empowered "I can" action. The work I delivered creates space for marginalized communities to see themselves in outdoor narratives while providing Girl Wonder Films with tools to stand out in a crowded market.
